Important News

Hello Everyone,  I just wanted to let everyone know that as of two days ago, I have returned from my mission. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it while I was out, which is why my emails stopped, but I was facing some intense depression when it came to missionary work. After trying to push through it for a while, the leaders of the mission and the counselors I was speaking to said that it would probably be best for me to stop doing full time missionary work. That being said, I do plan on continuing my mission in the fork of a service mission. For those who don't know, a service mission is where you stay at home and in the evenings and weekends you basically live normal life. During the week, however, you go do service at different places, like food banks and family history centers. This will be good because I will get a break throughout the week, but I will still be able to help people which is what I primarily enjoyed about the mission.  In the mean time,...

Hello people I am now slightly closer to and farther from in age, I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 21. Not really, everything still feels pretty much the same. I think my birthday has actually been one of the most mundane days on my mission. I do appreciate all of the birthday wishes, though! It's nice to be reminded that people actually remember I exist. Just kidding, I know I'm just a figment of your imagination. So as some may have noticed, I didn't send out an email last week. That's because I was getting transferred to a new area! It was pretty unexpected, so packing up and getting ready to go kind of took up all my time that day. So, I'll give you a quick summary of the previous week. Title: Another Bike Bites the Dust The zone's reaction to my popped tires Summary: My last week in Northpointe and Telge was filled with bike trouble. First, the rod holding my back wheel onto the bike literally exploded, so bye-bye rear...

Getting transferred and birthday week (no letter, pictures and video)

The sweet family that texted the picture to us. Elder Garner wasn't able to write a letter today, he is being transferred to a new area but will not know where until tomorrow morning.  Luckily his birthday package arrived today before they moved out of the apartment.  He was able to send some pictures and videos. Some church members saw these guys in Walmart  and texted us their picture He got a Spiderman piƱata in his birthday box The condition of his birthday box when it arrived Elder Lindsay fixing the bike There were lots of problems with Elder Garner's bike this week, they finally had to trade it in for a new bike and on the first day with the new bike he got two popped tires from metal in the road A fun burger joint they tried out last zone pictures before transfers

The Sweet Life of Garner and Lindsay

Salve omnes, This week went by super fast, but there was a lot of interesting stuff that happened along the way, so time this week has been extra weird. First off, it's still hot, but I think I covered that pretty well last week, so I'll leave it at that. We had a ton go on with our investigator this week. I haven't talked about him in awhile, so I'll give a quick review before the quiz: he's been investigating for awhile and is a teenager. We meet with him pretty regularly and we're working with him to get things moving soon. Anyways, whenever we meet with him we go to a small dock at a pond near his house. On Thursday as we were talking, we saw a kid on his bike going around the pond. We didn't think much of it until he rode down to the dock and just got off the bike and stood next to us. I thought he was just waiting on some friends to meet him there, so we just kind of ignored him at first. Then he just started cutting into our conversation to sa...

Through The Fire and Flames

Image
Hello friends, family, and maybe a couple strangers, I was going to just put the lyrics to "Through the Fire and Flames" instead of telling you about my week, but I can't really remember any of them, so I guess I'll tell you what happened. So, this email is titled as such because it is HOT here. Like obviously Texas is hot, but we've been sitting around 100 nearly all week and it's supposed to get worse this week. On Saturday we were out pretty much the whole day, and it was 100° but felt like 109° (that's in Fahrenheit for my non-American friends. I'm not literally boiling out here.) So we've basically been biking through fire. And flames. Yup. Did I mention that it's hot? We had to take a break under a tree to avoid getting heat stroke one day and something wonderful happened. We were next to a pond, and on the other side of the pond all the ducks were also sitting under a tree. Then one of them laughed. Just a straight up laugh. ...
