Through The Fire and Flames
Hello friends, family, and maybe a couple strangers,
I was going to just put the lyrics to "Through the Fire and Flames" instead of telling you about my week, but I can't really remember any of them, so I guess I'll tell you what happened.
So, this email is titled as such because it is HOT here. Like obviously Texas is hot, but we've been sitting around 100 nearly all week and it's supposed to get worse this week. On Saturday we were out pretty much the whole day, and it was 100° but felt like 109° (that's in Fahrenheit for my non-American friends. I'm not literally boiling out here.) So we've basically been biking through fire. And flames. Yup.
Did I mention that it's hot? We had to take a break under a tree to avoid getting heat stroke one day and something wonderful happened. We were next to a pond, and on the other side of the pond all the ducks were also sitting under a tree. Then one of them laughed. Just a straight up laugh. We gave it a few minutes and then all of them joined in. It was amazing. It was starting out as a pretty rough day, so that little comedy boost helped us get through the day.
Hey! I have some news to tell y'all! It's hot! Any time we could get inside this week was wonderful, which made dinner we had Sunday even better than it would have been. We were having dinner with a new church member. She's been in the Church for about a year and she's always trying to do missionary work herself, which is awesome. Anyways, when we got to dinner, we saw that some other people from the ward were there along with someone who looked vaguely familiar. After talking for a bit he said that we knocked on his door a few weeks ago. Immediately after that it clicked in our heads, because it's easy to remember the people who were nice to us. We had really good talks during dinner. Afterwards we got a text from the member saying that they were talking about us after we left and he asked for our number so that we could help him out with any work he needed done around his house. She jumps at any chance to share the Gospel with others, and she helps us out a lot.
Anyways, my brain is fried so I can't really think of what else. Things are still good, Elder Lindsay got glasses and can now see in HD, still dodging cars, and it's hot. That's all I got, but hope everyone is good!
Love,
Elder Burnt-to-a-crisp Garner
I don't have any pictures this week, but I do have the ducks. Enjoy.
