Where'd His Bones Go

Dear Patriots and Not-so-Patriots,
I won't lie, this was the toughest week so far. However, that does not mean there wasn't a lot of good. I'll try my best to summarize.
On Monday we had dinner with a couple who is returning to Church after being inactive for a long time. We also practiced teaching the first lesson on them, which was good because I got to teach in a less stressful environment. They're super nice and we're going back every week to teach the next lesson. Elder Lindsay was so happy because he's been trying to get in touch with them the entire time he's been here, so that was really good.
The next few days are where it was really rough. There was good, obviously, but we pretty much did nothing but knock for the rest of the week, and had no success. No one signed up for dinner except for Friday and Saturday, so we pretty much didn't eat until we got home on all those days. The Fourth was the hardest. We knocked from 3 to 8, and only 6 people answered the door. It was pretty discouraging, but we pushed through every day.
However, once we hit the weekend it was pretty good. We still only did knocking, but we had dinner with some really cool members, and being with them really lifted my spirits and got me ready to work some more. We also talked to some really nice people, and some really strange ones. My favorite this week was a man who was nice but then he started saying "honestly, I don't believe in God. I think he's an alien. I mean, where'd his bones go?" He then offered to show us videos on the subject, but decided instead to go play Mario kart, so he left us with fist bumps. Elder Lindsay and I still have no idea what any of that meant.
Now here's the highlight of the week. I don't remember if I've mentioned him before, but we've been teaching a man from Ghana. He's super nice and is really eager to learn. Anyways, he came to Church this Sunday, and he absolutely loved it. He said it brought back so many memories of the Church he used to attend when he was young, and he loved how we get to learn something from other members, not just a single preacher. He asked us afterwards if we would allow him to come back next week, and obviously we said yes. He's a great man, and he told us that we have succeeded in bringing one soul closer to Christ. Also, later that Sunday an inactive family who we had knocked on the door of several weeks ago showed up to Church, and I had been having a really strong feeling about them ever since we met them.
So in summary, the week was rough, but as usual all the bad has been overshadowed by the good, and I'm happy to be here.
Love,
Elder Garner
