First 4 Days

Hey everyone,

So far the MTC (Missionary Training Center, for my other friends) is very interesting in a good way. Other than the first day, each day has gone by very quickly but at the end of the day it feels like we have already been here for weeks. I don't know if I even retained very much in the first day because I was still trying to figure out my emotions that day. It's exhausting and busy and it has its down moments, but overall I've felt really good. I definitely start to miss music more and more each day and I wish there were people I could see, but I've had a much easier time on focusing on studies and classes than I thought I would. Very little from my life just a week ago ever comes to mind. This is where I am now, and I'm not thinking of it in terms of two years, but just each day, and so far it's working out.
My companion is Elder Petersen. He graduated from high school with his associates just eight days ago. He's a really nice and enthusiastic person with a lot of energy and a strong testimony. With that being said, we have a little bit of a buddy-cop movie situation here. He's the overly-eager rookie who still doesn't fully understand what he's getting into and I'm the tired older cop who does his job, but can be a bit jaded. He has lived in Utah his whole life.  We had a great companion study where we both were in tune with how to approach our next meeting with our investigator and focused on the story of Ammon and his gentle approach towards Lamoni and his people.
I love my district. There's Elder Fisher and Foster and Sister Mason, Cumard (Coo- mard), Stahle (Stay-lee), and Keawe ( Key-ah-vay). Everybody is super nice and our teacher Brother Huber just got back from his mission about a year ago, and he keeps us engaged and learning new way to teach and approach people.
It's been a long few days, but I've already learned a lot and am ready to learn more. I miss all of you and I hope everything is going well for you all

Love,
Elder Garner
